Directions to The Boston Center
The Boston Center is located in Boston’s Back Bay in the historic landmark Vendome Building at 170 Commonwealth Avenue. (The Ambulatory Surgical Center has a separate entrance at 170A Commonwealth Avenue.) The Boston Center is two blocks north of Copley Square and three blocks west of the Public Garden. If traveling from outside the city, it is easily accessible from Storrow Drive and the Massachusetts Turnpike.

From the North, South, and Airport
From the North, South, and Logan Airport, the Back Bay and Boston Center are most easily accessed by way of Storrow Drive.
To reach Storrow Drive:
- From the South: Take Route I-93 North to Exit 26, (Storrow Drive/Cambridge).
- From the Airport: Leave the airport via the Sumner Tunnel, which leads to 93. Take 93 North for 1/4 mile to Exit 26 (Storrow Drive/Cambridge).
- From the North via Route 1: Take Route 1 through the Tobin Bridge tolls, keep left, and follow the signs to Boston/South Shore-93S/Route 1. A long, curving ramp will take you onto 93 South. Once on 93 South, stay right for approximately 500 feet, then take Exit 26 (Storrow Drive/Cambridge).
- Take 93 South to the Storrow Drive Exit.
Once on Storrow Drive, you will travel along the Charles River for approximately 1.3 miles to the second exit (it is on the left), marked Copley Square/Back Bay 28S. (As you exit Storrow Drive, the Arthur Fiedler Footbridge will be directly overhead.) At the end of this exit is a stop light at the intersection with Beacon Street. Make a right onto Beacon Street (There is a large sign next to the stop light that reads “to South 28, Copley Square/Rox¬bury.”) Travel on Beacon Street for four blocks to Exeter Street where you turn left. Travel two blocks to Commonwealth Avenue, where you turn left. The Vendome and The Boston Center will be on your right as you approach the next intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Dartmouth Street.
From the West
The Boston Center is easily accessible via the Massachusetts Turnpike, Route 9, or Storrow Drive.
Massachusetts Turnpike:
Heading East on the Mass Pike, take Exit 22 (Prudential Cen¬ter/Copley Square). Bear right at this exit to Copley Square. This exit will take you to an intersection with Dartmouth Street. Turn left onto Dartmouth Street and travel four blocks to Commonwealth Avenue. The Vendome will be on your left as you approach Commonwealth Avenue.
Storrow Drive:
Heading East on Storrow Drive, take the Copley Square Exit. It will immediately take you to the intersection of Clarendon and Beacon. Take a right onto Beacon Street and travel two blocks to Exeter where you turn left. Travel two blocks to Commonwealth where you turn left. The Boston Center will be on your right as you approach the next intersection of Commonwealth and Dartmouth.
Route 9:
From Route 9, make a left onto Brookline Avenue to Boylston Street (ap¬proximately one mile). Take a left onto Boylston Street. Travel east on Boylston. At the intersection with the Fenway, you may exit onto Commonwealth Avenue and travel approximately five blocks to the Vendome, or, you may stay on Boylston Street to Dartmouth Street where you turn left and travel two blocks to Commonwealth Avenue.
A map of the area with directions to The Boston Center and to available parking follows. Note that, with the exception of Commonwealth Avenue, most of the streets in the Back Bay are one-way. It is usually best to park in a parking lot in the Back Bay, since metered parking is extremely limited. The directions for parking are presented in respect to those taking you to The Boston Center.

Parking
Street parking is extremely limited in the Back Bay. However, there are several parking facilities located near The Boston Center. They are noted on your map. The closest to The Boston Center is located directly behind it at the intersection of Dartmouth Street and one-way Newbury Street.
The other parking areas convenient to The Boston Center are all accessible from Exeter Street.
If using directions from North, South, Airport, and Storrow Drive, continue on Exeter Street beyond Com¬monwealth Avenue. There is a limited parking facility at the next street - Newbury and Exeter (in the basement of Niketown). We suggest the Prudential lot, which is accessible by continuing one short block just beyond Boylston. Finally, if one continues another half block, there is parking in Copley Place just across Huntington Avenue.
If traveling from the Mass Pike or Boylston Street, once on Commonwealth Avenue, make a left and travel one block west on Commonwealth Avenue to Exeter Street. Make a left onto Exeter to find the parking structures noted in the paragraph above.
Public Transportation
The Green Line T stop is located at Dartmouth and Boylston Streets. From this stop, walk two short blocks to Commonwealth Avenue and the Boston Center.
Back Bay Station, servicing AMTRAK trains from the northeast corridor located at Dartmouth and Stuart Streets. From this stop, walk three short blocks to Commonwealth Avenue and the Boston Center.
Logan Airport is a fifteen minute cab ride from the Boston Center.
Hotels
Most patients spend the night after surgery at The Boston Center. A majority of the hotels are located within a five block radius of The Boston Center. You must contact the hotel directly for rates and availability for the dates you visit. Also be sure to ask if they offer a medical discount.
