Revisional Malar (Cheek) Implant Surgery

Patients who present for revisional malar (cheek) implant surgery usually have one of three complaints: implant asymmetry; displeasing implant contours – too wide, too large, too low, or too prominent with time; and symptoms of infraorbital nerve compression (that is, the implant positioned on the nerve resulting in areas of numbness in the cheek and upper lip).

The patient shown below was displeased with the low appearance of her cheeks and the lack of malar definition. Submalar implants were removed, appropriately positioned implants were placed on the cheek prominence and the midface soft tissues were resuspended. The patient also had correction of a chin deformity and lowering of previously over lifted brows.
